Earlier in the week I shared my Favorite Finds of 2014.  Now it’s time for some wishin’ and hopin’.

Pursuing Vintage 2015 Wish List

When I go out pursuing vintage, I look for pieces that speak to me, that would work in today’s decor, and add interest to a space.  I don’t carry a shopping list.  But, in the back of my mind, there are always a few things I’m keeping an eye out for.  There are pieces for my own home that I’d like – as well as pieces that would be fun to offer through the Pursuing Vintage Shop.

In my own home, I’m on the look-out for a vintage classroom map.  I’d like the roll-down type, and preferably one that features either the entire US, Virginia, or Illinois (where we have family).

I’d also like a dining room table.  I found terrific faux bamboo dining chairs in 2014, and now I need a great table to showcase them.  I prefer a pedestal table – and oval would be best in my space.  Other than that criteria, I don’t really know what I’m looking for.  I think I’ll know it when I see it.  These tables are amazing, and I’d bring either of these home in a heartbeat.

I also want a pair of ram or ibex bookends.

For my bedroom, I’m looking for a unique, antique side table or small writing table.  Something a little rustic or primitive.  This one is amazing.

I’d also love to continue to stock the Pursuing Vintage Shop with amazing finds, and these would be so fun to find:

Thonet Chairs at Pursuing Vintage 1

The Thonet chair is so classic.  It’s been around for a long time.  For me, it brings to mind outdoor European cafes and Liza in Cabaret.

Liza Cabaret & Thonet Chairs

I would argue that it’s been around so long because it works in a variety of settings.  Let’s look at some great ways to incorporate a Thonet chair into your decor.

Paint them a bright and unexpected color.

Keep them natural and put them around a modern table with strong lines.

The Thonet chair is great in small spaces, like this galley kitchen.

Mix them with a Saarinen Tulip Table.

Dip them in color for an edgy, fun look.

Use a single chair at a desk or workspace.

They also make unassuming side tables.

All of these great examples of Thonet chairs lead me to my Featured Find – a set of four original Thonet #18 chairs.

Thonet Bentwood Cafe Chairs #18

One of them has the label still attached on the bottom.  (You can see where the labels had been attached on the other three).

Vintage Thonet Bros Label

Overall, they’re in good condition.  If you’re interested in them, I will send some close-up photos.

Thonet Original Bentwood Chairs #18 Backs

They can be found in the Pursuing Vintage Shop.
