If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed I was referencing Milwaukee, not DC, this weekend. I took a little trip to see one of my little sisters graduate from Marquette’s grad school. (Congrats Jamie!!)
Besides looking forward to seeing my family, I was looking forward to some uninterrupted reading time on the plane. (Basically, I need a Mommy-only getaway weekend every few months just to catch up on magazines!).
Remember that issue of Architectural Digest with McDreamy on the cover? The one from way back in March?
I’ve been wanting to sit down with that issue for awhile – it is full of beautiful star-studded interiors. I finally was able to take in all the eye candy (the DECOR! Not just McDreamy!) and I just fell in love with John Mellencamp’s island home.
The home has a great mix of antique furniture, featured beautifully amidst a neutral background. Take a look at my favorite spaces in the Mellencamp home:
Though I don’t think I could ever live in a house that didn’t have upper kitchen cabinets (too much pressure!!!) this is amazing, and I can’t picture it any other way. The portrait collection is perfection. And how beautiful is that table with the turned legs?
The slip covered chairs at the kitchen table are very inviting. I could imagine myself enjoying a cup of coffee while reading a magazine… oh wait, I have to sit on a plane to do that!
AD notes that the two story living hall was inspired by a church nave. Isn’t it beautiful? The room is like having your very own gallery.
Take a look at those french doors in this dining room. The moody, dark portrait and still life really make a statement against the white walls.
If you want to see more, you can find the entire article here. And, if you get a chance to see the entire issue, it is well worth it. A great mix of interiors can be found within the pages!
