Summer is here! Summer always makes me think of travel, so I thought I’d compile a dream Bucket List of Fantastic Properties, or “The Ultimate Home & Garden Tour!”
I chose properties based on architectural interest, spanning various styles and eras. They all were at one point private residences, and located in the US (let’s face it – this list would be never ending if I included the rest of the world!).
From top: Eames House, California (designed by Ray & Charles Eames as their personal home and studio); Nemours Mansion, Deleware (built by Alfred duPont for his wife); Farnsworth House, Illinois (designed by Mies van der Rohe as a country retreat for Dr. Farnsworth); Monticello, Virginia (designed and built by Thomas Jefferson as his main residence); Hearst Castle, California (designed by Julia Morgan for media mogul William Randolph Hearst); Stahl House, California (designed by Pierre Koenig based on a concept by owner Buck Stahl); Taliesin West, Arizona (designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright as a winter compound for his business and school); All of Palm Springs, California (numerous residential homes showcasing the best of “desert modernism”).
What would be on your Ultimate Home & Garden Tour? I’d love to hear your suggestions of places you’ve been, or places you dream of going!
