Most weekends I head out thrifting, I’m looking for awesome, unique items for the Pursuing Vintage Shop. But this past weekend, I was shopping for awesome, unique items for myself!
I follow Sweet Clover Barn on Facebook, and saw they were opening up for an extra day last Saturday. I perused the many photos of the shop that were posted, and my eye stopped on a vintage map.
Vintage Map – via Sweet Clover Barn on Facebook
You may remember, at the top of my 2015 Wish List was a vintage classroom roll-down map. Seeing the photo on the Sweet Clover Barn Facebook page was the last bit of motivation I needed to head out on a cold Saturday morning to Frederick, Maryland. I bribed the kids with some Dunkin Donuts, packed them in the car, and headed out for the hour drive.
Boy was it worth it!
Sweet Clover Barn is filled with so many amazing things. You can find vintage, new, painted, refinished, jewelry, art, the list goes on. The space is styled beautifully, with each vendor bringing their own bit of spice to the mix. There was so much to look at – I could have spent a very long time there, but my two little “helpers” were eager to see the horses outside and get back into the warm car.
I fell in love with these items, and had to bring them home.
Someone had gotten the United States map before me (you have to get there early!) so I picked up Europe. (Equally wonderful!) I plan on putting this in Big Boy’s room. I also found a retro-cool trophy for Baby Boy’s room (whenever I get around to actually decorating it!). When I was photographing it, I noticed the original owner’s note on the bottom. I love finding stuff like this!
I have a serious Lucite addiction, and couldn’t live without these napkin rings.
And I picked up this tortoise Bakelite bar ware set as a gift for my brother’s upcoming birthday. (I gave him a terrific ice bucket and glassware set for Christmas, so this will complete the look!)
If you’re in the Washington, DC metro area, you should definitely check out Sweet Clover Barn. Check their website for sales dates. I can’t wait to go back!
