What’s more embarrassing than my embarrassing chair? Why, spelling embarrassing incorrectly in the post title, of course! And not being able to do anything about it!
I was running around like a crazy lady on Friday. Big Boy had school, then we had a birthday party to attend immediately after school, then we had to pick up my mom from the airport, then we had a birthday party for Baby Boy (2 years old now!!), and somewhere in there I had to pack for a trip and write my post about my “embarrasing” chair. Well, I got it all done, and I thought I had done everything well. ….Until I was sitting on the beach Monday morning, and I saw my published post.
Let me explain.
My husband and I haven’t had a trip away without the kids in over four and a half years!!! (Hard to believe, right?!) An opportunity presented itself for me to accompany my husband to Clearwater Beach, Florida, for a work conference. I quickly begged my mom to come babysit the kids for four days, bought airline tickets, and packed my swimsuit. I didn’t pack a computer (okay, I had my Kindle so I could play around on Pinterest a bit and read The Monuments Men). My husband wouldn’t even let me stop at any thrift shops (and you know you can find awesome vintage in Florida!!!). The goal of the trip was to just rest and not take care of anybody. No little voices complaining about meals. No Legos and building blocks to pick up five times in one day. No laundry to do. No dishes. No responsibility. It was awesome. The weather was beautiful (anything is better than snow!). The hotel and service wonderful. The tiki hut on wheels A-mazing.
So, when I saw Monday’s huge misspelling, all I could do was laugh. I was in a good place. And, I knew you all would probably forgive me. 🙂
Here are a few photos from our trip.
Monday was a bit overcast and got a little chilly. That didn’t stop me from spending over five hours on the beach!
The hubby and I relaxing.
A big floppy hat is a necessity for this German/Irish fair-skinned girl.
It was always five o’clock somewhere!
On this trip I learned that, even though I’m so happy for a break, I miss my little guys immensely when I’m not with them. I also learned that it is VERY GOOD for the soul to have some time with no responsibility. I must make a point to do it again, and more frequently than every four and half years. I was also reminded of how much I truly love and cherish my husband and how lucky I am to have him.
Okay, enough of this self-reflective stuff! Back to home decor tomorrow!
