Have you noticed the trend to use different or contrasting fabrics when upholstering the backs of chairs?

My initial instinct is that I like it – I think its cute and fresh and fun.  I would say I prefer a subtle use of the trend, as in the last photo by House Beautiful.  I don’t think I would use a fabric with word art to cover the back a wing back!

Even though I think its kind of neat, I wonder if it will be one of those “fads” that is really dated in ten years?

What do you think?

Love it when done right and I have seen many great examples of complimentary fabrics and trims!

I do this ALL the time when reupholstering…I think it makes for such interesting vignettes when one view is completely dynamic from another. As long as you select a print/pattern that you LOVE and won’t grow out of, who cares if the “trend” dies out? YOU love it and I think that’s all that matters! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    Peace. Love. LOL!
